IPMAT 2027 Admission: IIM IPM Eligibility, Important Dates, Selection Process and Seat Allotment
Students can apply for five-year Integrated Programme in Management courses after Class 12 through three principal examination routes: IPM AT conducted by IIM Indore, the separate IPM Aptitude Test conducted by IIM Rohtak, and JIPMAT conducted by the National Testing Agency.
However, there is no single IPMAT admission process covering every IIM. Eligibility, application forms, Mathematics requirements, age limits, interviews, merit-list formulas and admission deadlines differ by institute.
2027 admission status: As of 31 July 2026, the principal institutes and NTA are displaying information for the 2026 admission cycle. Official IPMAT and JIPMAT 2027 notifications, dates and policies are still awaited. The 2026 rules cited in this guide are planning references, not confirmed 2027 criteria.

IPMAT 2027 Admission: Quick Answer
For IPM admission in 2027, students may need to take IPM AT Indore, IPM AT Rohtak or JIPMAT, depending on their target IIMs. Several institutes that use the IPM AT Indore score also require a separate application. Not every IIM conducts a Personal Interview, and age, school-mark and Mathematics requirements vary.
IPMAT 2027 Admission at a Glance
| Admission route | Main institutes or programmes | PI in the latest cycle? | Important application point |
|---|---|---|---|
| IPM AT conducted by IIM Indore | IIM Indore and several institutes independently using its score | Yes for IIM Indore; institute-specific elsewhere | Taking IPM AT does not automatically apply a student to every score-using institute |
| IPM Aptitude Test conducted by IIM Rohtak | IIM Rohtak IPM | Yes | A separate IIM Rohtak form is required |
| JIPMAT conducted by NTA | IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya IPM | No PI under their 2026 domestic policies | NTA conducts the test; each IIM independently prepares its merit list |
IIM Indore’s 2026 admissions page also identified IIM Ranchi, IIM Amritsar and IIM Shillong as institutions using its IPM AT score. Other listed institutions used the score for their own undergraduate programmes and admission processes.
Is the IPMAT 2027 Notification Out?
No official IPMAT 2027 or JIPMAT 2027 notification had been published as of 31 July 2026.
Students should monitor:
- The IIM Indore IPM admissions page
- The IIM Rohtak IPM admissions page
- The official NTA JIPMAT portal
- The individual admissions pages of every additional IIM they plan to apply to
Do not assume that the dates, eligibility conditions or selection weights used in 2026 will continue unchanged in 2027.
IPMAT 2027 Important Dates
The following periods are planning estimates based on recent admission calendars. They are not confirmed dates.
| Event | Tentative planning period for 2027 |
|---|---|
| Initial institute notifications | January–April 2027 |
| IPM AT Indore application | February–March 2027 |
| IPM AT Rohtak application | February–April 2027 |
| JIPMAT application | April–May 2027 |
| Additional institute application forms | February–May 2027 |
| IPM AT Indore and Rohtak examinations | May 2027 |
| JIPMAT examination | May–June 2027 |

The latest cycle demonstrates why candidates should not use one common date for all three examinations. IPM AT Indore was held on 4 May 2026, IPM AT Rohtak on 10 May 2026 and JIPMAT on 7 June 2026.
Which IIMs Offer a Five-Year IPM?
Based on the latest published admission information, the following IIMs offered a five-year Integrated Programme in Management.
| IIM | Entrance route used in the latest cycle | PI in the latest cycle? | Important eligibility distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| IIM Indore | IPM AT Indore | Yes | Age and Class 12 passing-year rules applied |
| IIM Rohtak | Its own IPM Aptitude Test | Yes | Minimum school marks and an age limit applied |
| IIM Ranchi | IPM AT Indore score | Yes | Separate IIM Ranchi application required |
| IIM Jammu | JIPMAT | No | School marks contributed to the merit score |
| IIM Bodh Gaya | JIPMAT | No | JIPMAT-based merit list |
| IIM Amritsar | IPM AT Indore score | Yes | Mathematics or Applied Mathematics required |
| IIM Shillong | IPM AT Indore score | Yes | Mathematics or Applied Mathematics and higher school-mark thresholds applied |
Do all IIMs listed as IPM AT score users offer a five-year IPM?
No. A college may use an IPM AT score for a different undergraduate management programme.
For example, IIM Sirmaur used the IIM Indore score for its four-year BMS admission process in 2026, while IIM Sambalpur used it for a four-year BS in Management and Public Policy. Students must verify the programme name, duration, exit award and final degree rather than relying only on the phrase “accepts IPMAT.”
IPMAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria
There is no universal eligibility rule covering every IPM institute. Students should compare the following four areas before applying.
Age limit
The draft assumption that IPM institutes do not have an age limit is incorrect.
For the 2026 cycle:
- IIM Indore required domestic applicants to have been born on or after 1 August 2006, with five years of relaxation for SC, ST and PwD candidates.
- IIM Rohtak specified a maximum age of 20 as of 30 June 2026, extended to 25 for SC and ST candidates.
- IIM Amritsar specified a maximum age of 20 as of 1 August 2026.
- IIM Shillong used a date-of-birth condition similar to IIM Indore’s.
The corresponding 2027 cut-off dates must be taken from the new policies when published.
Class 10 and Class 12 marks
Minimum marks differ significantly:
- IIM Indore’s 2026 domestic policy did not prescribe a fixed Class 10 or 12 percentage threshold, although it imposed passing-year and age conditions.
- IIM Rohtak required 60% in both Class 10 and 12, reduced to 55% for SC, ST and DAP candidates.
- IIM Jammu required 60%, reduced to 55% for SC, ST and PwD candidates.
- IIM Bodh Gaya required 60%, reduced to 55% for SC, ST, PwD and transgender candidates.
- IIM Amritsar required 60%, with a 55% threshold for SC, ST and PwD candidates.
- IIM Shillong required 70% in Classes 10 and 12, reduced to 65% for SC, ST and DA candidates.
These are latest-cycle references only.
Is Mathematics compulsory?
Mathematics is not a universal requirement, but it is compulsory at some institutes.
In the 2026 cycle, IIM Amritsar and IIM Shillong required Mathematics or Applied Mathematics at the senior-secondary level. Their rules mean that an otherwise strong student from a non-Mathematics stream could be ineligible for those two programmes.
Students from commerce, humanities or science backgrounds should therefore check both the stream rule and the subject rule for every target institute.
Class 12 appearing students
Students appearing for their Class 12 examination in the admission year are generally allowed to apply provisionally. Final admission is subject to:
- Passing the qualifying examination within the institute’s prescribed period
- Obtaining the required percentage
- Producing the final marksheet and certificate by the deadline
- Satisfying any subject and passing-year conditions
Failure to produce the required marksheets at registration can result in cancellation of a provisional offer.
Reservation and category certificates
IIMs follow applicable Government of India reservation rules. Candidates applying under NC-OBC, EWS, SC, ST or PwD categories must produce a valid certificate in the required format and within the relevant validity period.
A certificate accepted by a school, state examination or another college may not automatically meet an IIM’s central-category documentation requirements. Check the certificate instructions before submitting the form.
How to Apply for IPMAT and IIM IPM Admission in 2027
Step 1: Shortlist institutes before choosing examinations
Prepare a table containing:
- Institute
- Programme name
- Required examination
- Age condition
- Minimum marks
- Mathematics requirement
- Separate application deadline
- PI requirement
- Application fee
This prevents students from preparing for the wrong examination or discovering a subject restriction after registration closes.
Step 2: Register for the correct entrance tests
A student targeting a broad range of IIM IPM programmes may need to register separately for:
- IPM AT Indore
- IPM AT Rohtak
- JIPMAT
Registration for one does not register the student for either of the other two.
Step 3: Submit separate institute applications
This is one of the most important parts of the process.
Several institutes using the IIM Indore score operate their own application portals. In the 2026 cycle, IIM Ranchi, IIM Amritsar and IIM Shillong required separate institute-level applications.
Taking IPM AT Indore without completing the additional institute form can make a candidate ineligible for consideration at that institute.
Step 4: Save every acknowledgement
Keep copies of:
- Submitted application forms
- Payment receipts
- Entrance-test registration numbers
- Uploaded photographs and signatures
- Category certificates
- Confirmation emails
- Admit cards
- Scorecards
Use the same active email address and mobile number throughout the admission cycle.
Institute-Wise IPM Selection Process
IIM Indore selection process
For its 2026 domestic admission process, IIM Indore used:
- Eligibility screening
- IPM Aptitude Test
- Sectional minimum marks
- Shortlisting for PI
- Personal Interview
- Category-wise final merit list
The IPM AT had three sections:
- Quantitative Ability — MCQ
- Quantitative Ability — Short Answer
- Verbal Ability — MCQ
The final composite score gave 65% weight to the aptitude-test score and 35% to the PI. Class 10 and 12 percentages were not separate components of that final composite formula.
IIM Rohtak selection process
IIM Rohtak conducted its own IPM Aptitude Test.
Its 2026 final merit formula was:
| Component | Weight |
|---|---|
| Aptitude Test | 55% |
| Personal Interview | 15% |
| Class 10 marks | 10% |
| Class 12 marks | 20% |
The institute planned its PI for the first or second week of June and its selection list for the second week of July in that cycle.
IIM Ranchi, IIM Amritsar and IIM Shillong
These institutes used the IIM Indore IPM AT score in the latest cycle but conducted their own application and selection processes.
- IIM Ranchi accepted IPM AT Indore scores and separately processed applications and interviews.
- IIM Amritsar shortlisted candidates using IPM AT performance, followed by a PI. Its 2026 final formula used 70% aptitude-test score, 25% PI and 5% gender diversity.
- IIM Shillong shortlisted eligible IPM AT candidates for an online PI.
Candidates must not assume that IIM Indore’s shortlist, cutoff or PI result applies to these institutes.
IIM Jammu selection through JIPMAT
IIM Jammu did not conduct a PI for its 2026 domestic selection process.
Its merit formula was:
| Component | Weight |
|---|---|
| JIPMAT percentile | 70% |
| Class 10 marks | 15% |
| Class 12 marks | 15% |
Candidates also had to meet category-wise sectional percentile requirements.
IIM Bodh Gaya selection through JIPMAT
IIM Bodh Gaya’s 2026 policy used JIPMAT performance to prepare its merit list. Candidates had to meet the applicable eligibility and sectional-percentile requirements, but the domestic policy did not list a Personal Interview stage.
Is WAT part of IPM admission?
A Written Ability Test is not a universal IPM selection stage. It should not be included as a standard step unless an institute’s 2027 admission policy specifically mentions it.
Expected IPMAT PI Dates for 2027
PI dates will apply only to institutes that use an interview.
Based on recent calendars, students should keep June and July 2027 relatively free for interview calls. Dates may begin earlier than expected: IIM Rohtak planned its 2026 PI in early June, while IIM Shillong scheduled interviews from 23 to 25 June.
Interview notifications may appear through:
- The institute’s admission portal
- Registered email
- SMS
- Official admission announcements
Students should check spam and promotions folders as well as the institute portal. Do not rely solely on an SMS alert.
How to Prepare for an IPM Personal Interview
Review your Class 11 and 12 subjects
Panels may ask foundational questions from the candidate’s school subjects. Prepare core definitions, applications and concepts rather than attempting to revise every chapter.
Prepare a specific answer to “Why IPM?”
A credible answer should explain:
- Why management interests you
- Why an integrated programme suits your learning goals
- What you understand about the institute’s curriculum
- Which alternatives you have considered
- Why you are making the decision immediately after Class 12
Avoid answers based only on placements, salary or the IIM brand.
Follow current affairs
Review major national, international, business, economic and education developments. Practise explaining an issue in your own words, including more than one perspective.
Know your application form
Be prepared to discuss:
- Academic performance
- Subject choices
- Extracurricular activities
- Awards
- Interests
- Leadership experiences
- Gaps or inconsistencies
Practise without memorising scripts
Mock interviews are most useful when they identify unclear reasoning, weak subject areas and communication habits. Memorised answers often sound unnatural when a panel asks a follow-up question.
Reviewer tip: Treat test preparation, interview preparation and application tracking as three parallel workstreams. Waiting for the written result before beginning PI preparation leaves little time to correct subject gaps or communication weaknesses.
Merit Lists, Seat Offers and Waitlist Movement
There is no common IPM counselling or centralised seat-allotment system comparable to a single national allocation portal.
Each institute independently:
- Applies its eligibility and cutoff rules
- Creates a category-wise merit list
- Issues admission offers
- Sets an offer-acceptance deadline
- Collects an acceptance amount or term fee
- Processes withdrawals
- Releases further waitlist offers
NTA’s role in JIPMAT is limited to conducting the examination and providing scores. IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya prepare their own admission lists.
Acceptance fee
Candidates must pay the amount stated in the offer letter by the specified deadline. At IIM Jammu, for example, the 2026 offer-acceptance amount was ₹50,000 and was adjusted against the semester fee after acceptance. Its policy also specified a withdrawal deadline and processing deduction.
Amounts and refund terms vary, so never infer one institute’s policy from another’s.
Waitlist movement
A later offer may be issued when a selected candidate:
- Declines admission
- Misses the payment deadline
- Withdraws
- Fails document verification
- Chooses another institute
Movement can continue close to the start of classes, but previous-year movement should not be treated as a guarantee.
Can candidates hold more than one offer?
Institutes operate independent offer and payment systems. A payment at one institute does not function as a central lock across every IIM.
Candidates considering more than one offer should compare:
- Payment deadlines
- Refund deductions
- Last withdrawal dates
- Non-refundable components
- Reporting dates
- The financial cost of temporarily holding more than one paid offer
The conditions in the individual offer letters take priority.
Documents Required for IPM Admission
Prepare original documents and clear scanned copies of:
- Class 10 marksheet and certificate
- Class 12 marksheet and certificate
- Provisional Class 12 result, where applicable
- School-leaving or transfer certificate
- Migration certificate, where requested
- Entrance-test admit card
- Entrance-test scorecard
- Submitted institute application form
- Payment receipts
- Aadhaar card, passport or another accepted photo ID
- Recent passport-size photographs
- NC-OBC, EWS, SC, ST or PwD certificate, where applicable
- Board-certified grade-to-percentage conversion document
- IB Indian Percentage Transcript, where applicable
- Any undertaking specified in the call or offer letter
The final checklist should always be taken from the institute’s call letter or registration instructions.
Reasons an IPM Offer May Be Cancelled
An application or provisional offer may be cancelled when a candidate:
- Does not satisfy the age, passing-year, marks or subject requirements
- Enters incorrect academic or category information
- Does not produce the required original documents
- Submits an invalid or incorrectly formatted category certificate
- Fails to attend a compulsory PI
- Misses the acceptance-payment deadline
- Does not obtain the required Class 12 marks
- Submits multiple applications containing inconsistent information
- Fails to report by the institute’s registration deadline
IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak and IIM Ranchi all state that failure to produce required documents or resolve discrepancies can affect or cancel admission.
Admission Planning Checklist for 2027 Aspirants
- Create an institute-wise eligibility spreadsheet before registering.
- Check age and Mathematics requirements first.
- Register separately for every required examination.
- Confirm whether each score-using institute needs an additional form.
- Maintain a calendar of application, PI, payment and withdrawal deadlines.
- Start PI and current-affairs preparation before the written results.
- Download and save every official policy and payment receipt.
- Check official portals at least twice a week during the shortlist and offer period.
- Do not rely on social-media cutoff predictions for eligibility or payment decisions.
- Recheck the complete form before final submission because correction windows may be limited.
How Erudite UG PrepLab Supports IPMAT Aspirants
Erudite UG PrepLab provides structured preparation for the different IPM entrance routes, including quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, data interpretation and logical reasoning where relevant to the selected examination. Preparation can be organised around the student’s target combination of IPM AT Indore, IPM AT Rohtak and JIPMAT rather than treating all three papers as identical.
Support may also include mock tests, performance analysis, current-affairs preparation, mock interviews for institutes that use a PI and an institute-wise application tracker. Students should continue to treat official IIM and NTA notifications as the final authority for eligibility, applications and admission deadlines.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the IPMAT 2027 notification out?
No. As of 31 July 2026, official websites were displaying the 2026 admission cycle. Students should wait for the respective 2027 notifications before treating any date or criterion as confirmed.
Who is eligible for IPMAT 2027?
Eligibility will depend on the institute. Common conditions concern Class 10 and 12 completion, passing years, minimum marks, age and, at some institutes, Mathematics or Applied Mathematics. The final answer will only be available after the 2027 policies are released.
Does every IIM conduct a Personal Interview for IPM?
No. IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya did not use a PI in their 2026 domestic IPM selection policies. IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak, IIM Ranchi, IIM Amritsar and IIM Shillong used interviews in their latest processes.
Is Mathematics compulsory for IPM admission?
Not at every institute. It was compulsory for IIM Amritsar and IIM Shillong in the 2026 cycle. Students must check the subject requirement separately for every target IIM.
Which IIMs accept JIPMAT?
JIPMAT is conducted by NTA for admission to the IPM programmes of IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya.
Do I need to apply separately to institutes accepting IPM AT Indore?
Frequently, yes. Score-using institutes may require their own application and fee. IIM Ranchi, IIM Amritsar and IIM Shillong operated separate application processes in 2026.
Is there a centralised IPM seat-allotment process?
No. Each institute publishes its own merit list, sends its own offers and applies its own payment, waitlist and withdrawal rules.
Can I temporarily hold more than one admission offer?
The institutes operate independently. Candidates must examine the payment and withdrawal terms in every offer letter before paying more than one acceptance amount. A payment to one institute does not constitute a common allocation decision for all IIMs.
Is WAT compulsory for IPM admission?
No. WAT is not a universal IPM admission stage. Include it in your preparation only when the target institute’s current admission policy specifically lists it.
When will IPMAT 2027 seat offers be released?
The dates have not been announced. Based on recent calendars, first merit lists and offers are likely to appear during July or August 2027, but institute-specific schedules may differ.
Conclusion
IPMAT 2027 admission will not be governed by one common eligibility rule or selection formula. Students must first identify their target institutes and then verify the required examination, age condition, school marks, Mathematics eligibility, separate application form and interview requirement.
The most reliable strategy is straightforward: build an institute-wise shortlist, maintain a deadline tracker and verify every decision against the official 2027 admission policy. Use previous-cycle information only for planning—not as a substitute for the new notification.
