CHRIST University GK Section: Quick Overview
The General Knowledge section tests whether candidates can identify important facts, institutions, events and developments across India and the world. Depending on the programme, Current Affairs may appear as a separate section or may need to be prepared alongside broader general awareness.
Quick Summary: The official 2026 undergraduate test pattern listed a total of 120 marks for the major programme groups and a test duration of 90 minutes unless otherwise specified.
Program-Wise GK Weightage
The following table is based on the official 2026 pattern and should not be treated as a confirmed 2027 pattern.
| Program group | General Knowledge | Separate Current Affairs section |
|---|---|---|
| BA Media, English, Liberal Arts and Political Science programs | 20 marks | 10 marks |
| Economics, BCA and Data Science programs | 15 marks | 10 marks |
| B.Com and Bachelor of Hotel Management programs | 20 marks | Not separately listed |
| BBA programs | 20 marks | Not separately listed |
| B.Sc Psychology | 30 marks | 10 marks |
| BA LLB and BBA LLB | 30 marks | 15 marks |
| B.Tech programs | 15 marks | Not separately listed |
| BBA Decision Science | 20 marks | Not separately listed |
| B.Sc Actuarial Science | Included | Included; sectional marks not specified |
Important: The variation is important. A psychology or law applicant may need to devote more preparation time to GK and Current Affairs than an applicant whose programme allocates 15 marks to GK.

How to Prepare Current Affairs for the 2027 Test
A frozen list of current-affairs questions will become outdated quickly. Use a rolling revision system instead.
Follow a Practical 8–12 Month Window
Unless the official notification specifies otherwise, begin with developments from the eight to twelve months preceding the examination. Give greater attention to the most recent six months.
Create Monthly Revision Sheets
- Major Indian government decisions
- International summits
- Appointments
- Awards
- Sports winners
- Books and authors
- Science and space developments
- Business and economic news
- Important reports and indices
Use Primary Sources
- PIB for Indian government developments
- RBI for banking and monetary policy
- India Budget for the Budget and Economic Survey
- ISRO for space missions
- United Nations sources for global affairs
- Official award and sporting-body websites
Convert News into Questions
Do not only read news articles. Convert each important development into four revision prompts:
- What happened?
- Who or which organization was involved?
- Where did it happen?
- Why was it important?

Expert Tips from Kaushik Kapoor
1. Prepare According to Your Program
Do not copy another student's timetable without checking the sectional distribution for your chosen course. A law or psychology candidate may need a stronger GK emphasis than a candidate whose programme allocates fewer marks to the section.
2. Maintain an Error Log
After every test, record the question answered incorrectly, the correct fact, the reason for the error, the source used to verify it and the date for the next revision. This prevents the same mistakes from recurring.
3. Separate Knowledge Gaps from Guessing Errors
An incorrect answer may result from not knowing the fact, confusing two similar options, reading the question too quickly or taking an unnecessary guess. Each problem requires a different correction.
4. Practice Under Time Limits
GK questions should usually be answered quickly. Use short timed sets of 15–20 questions instead of spending several minutes recalling one uncertain fact.
5. Revise More Than You Collect
Pro Tip: A smaller set of well-revised facts is more useful than hundreds of pages of current-affairs notes that are never reviewed.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many GK questions are asked in the CHRIST University Entrance Test?
The number may differ by programme and year. The official 2026 pattern assigned between 15 and 30 marks to General Knowledge across major undergraduate programme groups. Students should verify the official 2027 programme-wise pattern when it is released.
Is Current Affairs separate from General Knowledge?
It is separate in some programme groups. For example, the 2026 pattern separately listed Current Affairs for several BA, Economics, BCA, Data Science, Psychology and law programmes. For BBA and B.Com groups, it was not shown as a separate section in the programme-wise table.
How many months of current affairs should I prepare?
A rolling eight-to-twelve-month window is a practical preparation strategy, with greater emphasis on the latest six months. This is an expert recommendation rather than an officially prescribed time period.
Is there negative marking?
The official 2026 CHRIST undergraduate entrance-test guidelines stated that each correct answer carried 1 mark, each wrong answer attracted a negative mark of 0.25, and unattempted questions received no mark or penalty. Confirm the exact scheme in the official 2027 test instructions and admit card before relying on it.
Which sources are best for current affairs?
Use PIB, RBI, India Budget, ISRO, the United Nations, official government ministries and recognised award or sporting-body websites. Newspapers can help explain events, but important facts should be checked against primary sources.
Are these previous-year CHRIST University questions?
No. They are practice questions created around important GK domains. They should not be described as recalled or official previous-year questions.
Is the entrance test the only stage of selection?
Not necessarily. Depending on the programme, the selection process may also include a Skill Assessment, Micro Presentation, Personal Interview or other programme-specific components. Candidates must check the official selection process for their chosen programme.
